Spence's Happy New Dear
Blues make first signing ahead of 2015 season.
Everton Ladies have made their first signing in preparation for the new WSL 2 campaign by securing the services of midfielder Jenna Dear.
Dear arrives from Chelsea and becomes Andy Spence’s first signing since he returned as manager last month.
She has signed for the Blues from Chelsea and is an England Under-19 international.
Earlier today, it was confirmed that a whole host of last season’s Ladies’ squad have re-signed for the forthcoming campaign.
And Spence has now begun the process of bolstering that nucleus of players with additional signings.
In Dear, he has brought in real pedigree as she joins having been part of the Chelsea squad which became WSL 1 champions last year.
"We are absolutely delighted to have secured the signing of Jenna," he said. "She will bring a number of qualities to the squad and will be a fantastic addition to our team going forward.
"She ticks so many of the boxes we look for in an Everton player; her technical ability is strong, she is athletic, she has a good personality, a desire to improve and also, importantly, she brings us a real physical edge to our midfield.
"That was what really stood out when we faced Jenna when she was on loan at Watford - she had a genuine presence on the pitch and really impressed me with what I saw.
"Her addition to our midfield unit makes me very confident that we have a great number of options and a real good mix of players who will complement each other with the different qualities they will all bring to our team."
