Perfect Century For Fara

Williams captains England, wins 100th cap and scores the winner.

Everton Ladies' Fara Williams collected her 100th international cap and bagged the winning goal as England defeated Switzerland in the Cyprus Cup.

Williams, deputising as captain for the injured Faye White, headed home in the 74th minute to give England a 1-0 win over the Swiss.

Speaking after the victory, Williams revealed her pride upon reaching the milestone.

"It's a great honour whenever I play for my country," she said. "So to go out and get my 100th cap as captain was great.

"It was a proud moment for me. I think the performance also was good and to get the win in the end was fantastic for us."

Williams has been involved in 56 wins in her century of international appearances, scoring 36 goals in the process.

Making her England debut against Portugal on November 24, 2001, the midfielder has also skippered the Under-19s at the UEFA Championship in 2003.

After joining Everton Ladies in 2004, the 28-year old was named the FA International Player of the Year in 2007 and 2009, as well Everton's Player of the Season in 2009.

She was part of the Blues team that won the League Cup in 2008 and the FA Women's Cup in 2010.

Having already recorded a 3-1 win over Finland, England currently sit top of Group A in the Cyrpus Cup. They face France on Sunday in the last group game, before a final fixture on Tuesday 6 March.
