Exciting New Girl Guiding Partner
Everton Ladies are delighted to announce a new partnership with Merseyside Girl Guiding.
The link looks set to improve levels of participation in girls football throughout Merseyside, but also raise the interest in The FA WSL (Women's Super League).
A new sash badge has been designed and created, and groups around the UK will be able to earn it by completing a number of football related activities.
The Everton girls met a Merseyside Girl Guiding group.
Some of the Everton specific tasks will include; learning the names and squad numbers of the Everton Ladies team, find out what the motto means, go to an Ladies football match and volunteer to be a mascot. There are also lots of other ways for the girls to earn the badge related to healthy and fitness, arts and crafts and improving football skills.
To launch the partnership, Everton players Simone Magill and Danielle Turner went to Cherry Lane Girl Guiding unit to meet the Guides, Brownies and Rainbows. They even had a special guest - Blue Santa!
While at the event, Magill and Turner gave out gifts with Santa, including blue noses and Everton branded Christmas hats.
Toffees' midfielder, Turner, said: "I think it's a fantastic opportunity for more girls to get involved in football.
"Turning up at the Brownie group and seeing how enthusiastic and energetic the young girls were shows what a fantastic opportunity football would provide for them."
Magill added: "Football teaches about healthy eating and discipline, so it's a great sport for young girls to play.
"This partnership gives them the opportunity to participate, become more knowledgeable and earn a uniquely designed badge that incorporates the Everton crest with the Guiding trefoil and I think it would look great on their sash."
