Blue Girls Help Kick It Out

Brougham, Spence and Ho visit EitC 'Imagine Your Goals' session.

Representatives from the Blues’ Ladies team met with an Everton in the Community (EitC) group, ahead of their dedicated ‘Kick It Out’ fixture against Durham this weekend.

Georgia Brougham, along with management duo Andy Spence and Martin Ho, joined in with the charity’s ‘Imagine Your Goals’ session, which aims to tackle mental health issues amongst different groups within the local area, through the power of football.

Brougham, who joined Everton Ladies from Manchester City in 2016, enjoyed a kick-a-bout with the group, before taking part in a Q&A to discuss how football can be used as a powerful tool in the fight against mental health and hear about the participants’ experiences with EitC.

The visit was arranged by the team ahead of their ‘Kick It Out’ fixture against Durham this weekend. ‘Kick It Out’ is football’s equality and inclusion organisation - working throughout the football, educational and community sectors to challenge discrimination, encourage inclusive practices and campaign for positive change.

Sporting the well-known yellow t-shirts, which will be worn ahead of the Spring Series fixture on Saturday, the Everton trio were keen to see how EitC is working to help eradicate stigmas within football and help to promote equality in the world of sport.

Commenting on the visit, Brougham said: “It’s been really interesting to see the session in action – we all know how hard EitC work in the local area but to experience it first hand is extremely important for us. ‘Kick it Out’ fixtures are a great way for us to promote equality in football and it’s definitely something which Everton values right across the Club.

“Talking to the participants was really inspirational for me and now I’m feeling even more excitement and pride about pulling the Everton jersey on, on Saturday. It’s a really important game as we look towards the end of the series and we hope to put on a show for the fans, as well as raising awareness for an important topic.”

Andy Spence’s Everton Ladies welcome Durham Women to the Select Security Stadium on Saturday 6 May at 2pm. Tickets are available here.
